Absolutely! AND you shouldn’t treat a yeast infection with any over the counter medication without first consulting with your doctor and having it properly diagnosed as a yeast infection. If you don’t have a yeast infection and you treat it with otc yeast infection medication your body could build an immunity to the medication and render it ineffective in the future when you truly need it. It’s safer to just go to the doctor.

I did a little research, and I can’t find anything suggesting it can. It’s mostly just annoying and unpleasant as far as the information suggests.

yes it can but only if you have a really bad infection and it goes untreated for a long period of time, there are many products you can get at any pharmacy over the counter, i think one of them is named vagisil.

i am unsure. I have heard many stories, whether they are true or not is a different story. I do know that untreated yeast infections can cause kidney infections. and maybe get worse.

but the best thing for you to do is to go see a doc and see what he can recommend to you maybe it is not a yeast infection
    Good luck

You should really see your gynecologist, especially if this is your first infection. A lot of women mistake bacterial vaginosis, also called a Gardnerella infection, to be a yeast infection. If you treat BV with over the counter yeast infection cures, you can actually aggravate it. I have never heard of a yeast infection causing infertility, but BV, when left untreated, can affect the natural state of the good bacteria in the reproductive system and make it easier for any other infections or STDs you are exposed to to reach the cervix and uterus, which in turn can cause scar tissue and in some cases infertility.

That’s just a rough summary of what can happen, if you would like a more detailed explanation you can perform a search for bv and yeast infections and get a much more in depth explanation. The risk is low, but better safe that sorry with something that could potentially be so damaging.

    Oh, also:

Yeast infections typically involve clumpy, cottage cheese-like discharge, burning and itching, and a strong smell of yeast.

BV will typically smell fishy or metallic, have thinner, milky discharge, and some women who have it will have little to no symptoms at all. Itching and burning usually do not occur in a BV infection.

If your only symptom is clumpy white discharge, it is possible that you are just ovulating. Many women get this type of discharge when ovulating. If you are still concerned, you can discuss this with your gynecologist or start charting your discharge to see if this type tends to occur about two weeks before the start of your period.

If it doesn’t itch, it may not be anything. Wait until you see more symptoms.

I have been battling this issue only 3 times in my life. But every time I had it, it got worse and couldn’t get rid of it unless I got a prescription from jy doctor, took the tablets many times… I’ve tried everything.

Finally had a learning experience last week. My Shaklee distributor recommended garlic tablets and I said, heck why not. You’ve got to try this! Instructions and suggestions are on this website http://www.completeproductline.com/webpage.asp?id=87 Good luck, and feel well soon.
